Saving The West Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of children and communities through programs that build values, develop character, create opportunities and promote positive attitudes. Saving The West is committed to protecting, preserving and promoting the ethical, historical, social, environmental, sustainable and traditional uses of land in the Western United States of America.
The Ed Center is a non-profit 501(c)3 that provides after school tutoring and enrichment to our local inner-city community in the Crenshaw area of Los Angeles at an affordable price. Currently, there are no comparable programs in the community.
We are also partnering with LADWP preparing foster students for the workforce; job training, networking, and interviews. We will be providing 30 paid internships for foster youth every summer withing LADWP and their affiliates. We are looking to expand this program as well to LAPD, LAFD, and other local startups around the city.
The Ed Center runs STEAMS summer camps that work to promote a holistic academic & athletic experience for children ages 8-16. The summer camps cover sustainability, farm to table, nutrition, the arts, math & science, technology, along with a mix of outdoor recreation activities.
The Parent Organization, Saving The West Foundation, works towards land conservation and education in both rural and highly urban areas of the West.
SAVING THE WEST FOUNDATION educates people across America about the need for land conservation and develops innovative policies and programs to protect urban and rural land on a large scale. Saving The West Foundation sees the need to foster understanding and collaboration between people living in densely populated cities and those who live near and work the land.
- The Ed Center aims to promote:
- Self-esteem,
- Communication and
- Independence through after school tutoring and enrichment.
The center has about 20,000 school-aged kids within a few miles of it in South Los Angeles–with a large portion of that in foster care. The Ed Center prides itself in being able to provide affordable after school services to students who really need it. They take a holistic view of community education through supporting learning at all ages, races, backgrounds, and socio-economic statuses.
Saving the West Foundation offers a variety of programs for students, including: tutoring, foster-kid internship placement, camps and is developing a rural campus.
